Q: What process does your company use to make soap?
A: Our company uses the the cold process method to make our soaps. Although, this method has a longer cure time we feel that it is the best method for our soap. The general cure time is between 4 and 6 weeks before our soap is done.
Q: Why does your company use lye (sodium hydroxide) in the soap making process?
A: Our company uses food grade lye (sodium hydroxide) because we make true soap. Of course there are other methods such as melt and pour soap. We do not specialize in melt and pour soaps of any kind.
Q: How is lye (sodium hydroxide) safe in soap making?
A: Lye (sodium hydroxide) is safe in soap making when it is combined with our natural oils while having the correct temperature and correct measurement. Once combined saponification (a chemical reaction) takes places which then starts part of the process in soap creating. When the two are mixed, all lye (sodium hydroxide) is then gone, making soap.
Q: Why does your company make some of your candles with blended wax?
A: Our company uses a variety blended waxes to make some of our candles, unless otherwise stated. The blends we use more than likely will contain food grade paraffin. The amount of food grade paraffin depends on the wax used, which can be found on our labels. Our company has recently started the transition to only coconut, coconut apricot and coconut soy waxes. We will continue to sell our blended waxes until sold out.
Q: Why does your company suggest burning your candles for no more than 3 to 4 hours at a time?
A: Our company suggests burning our candles for 3 to 4 hours on the very first burn and every burn after because it helps with the candle performance. We also suggest to trim the wick before each use to ensure little to no sooting. If you need to burn our candles for longer than the hours suggested, for best results put the flame out and let the candle sit for at least 15 to 20 minutes; then trim wick and relight.
Q: Are there any preservatives in your products?
A: No, our company does not use preservatives of any kind.
Q: How long does natural products usually last without preservatives?
A: Usually our natural products should remain in excellent condition for 6 months to 1 year. Some products will last longer. (for example bar soap and or candles)
Q: What should be done if a cream or body butter slightly melts while being shipped?
A: If a cream or body butter slightly melts while being shipped, it can be refrigerated for at least 10 minutes and it should return back to its natural state. We encourage keeping all butters/oils at room temperature.
Q: How should I use handmade soap as opposed to soaps made by machines?
A: Handmade bar soaps can be used exactly the same way as other soaps. Please keep in mind that handmade soaps prefer to dry between each use. We recommend a draining soap dish which helps to prolong any natural soap bar.
Q: Will every bar of soap look exactly the same?
