Crystals are very precious stones that carry vibrations that can help individuals in many ways. Being that all stones carry their own unique vibration it is important to cleanse them if they are being used as a conduit. When a crystal is purchased, the purchaser should always cleanse the stone before wearing it or using it for whatever reason.
There are many ways that crystals can be cleansed; some of those ways include: salt, water, sunlight, moonlight, and within the earth. Not all crystals should be placed in water, just as not all crystals should be placed in sunlight. The amethyst crystal can be placed in salt, water, moonlight, and or within the earth. If the amethyst stone is placed in sunlight, it is highly likely that it will change in color. This change can range from slight to major. If the stone is placed in sunlight for a short period of time, it should not change in appearance much; if at all.
To cleanse a genuine amethyst stone with only water it should be submerged in a natural running stream for up to 30 minutes. If cleansing in salt (particularly sea salt) the stone should be covered with the salt and left to release any possible unwanted vibrations for at least 24 hours or more. Water and salt can be used to cleanse the amethyst stone by submerging it in a salt water mixture for about 3 days. When utilizing moon light to cleanse a crystal, it is best to place them out on a full moon (up to 4 hours or longer if needed). The full moon cycle is in effect 3 days before and 3 days after. I only recommend this method to individuals who are familiar with moon cycles and a bit of astrology. Cleansing a crystal by way of the earth is done by simply placing the stone directly in soil.
Any of these cleansing methods are a sure way to cleanse an amethyst stone. Please remember that the ways mentioned are only some methods of cleansing stones. There are many many other ways to cleanse crystals; the ways referenced in this guide are some of the most common.
